Baseball Recap: Summit Country Day Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

With a playoff win on the line, Summit Country Day rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Purcell Marian Cavaliers 13-3. That's two games straight that the Silver Knights have won by exactly ten runs.

Jack Phillabaum made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Summit Country Day let Lucas Reder and Dillon Minton run wild. Reder went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Minton went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Reder has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce McNair, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Summit Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Summit Country Day has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Purcell Marian, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
