Basketball Recap: Madera South Comes Up Short

Madera South lost against McLane back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Madera South Stallions took a blow against the McLane Highlanders, falling 72-45. The game marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

It was another big night for Demetrius Simon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds for McLane. Simon has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Keyvon Burcher was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and five boards.

Madera South has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season. As for McLane, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

Madera South will welcome Madera at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Madera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for McLane, they will head out to square off against Justin Garza at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Justin Garza is on a five-game streak of home wins, McLane a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
