After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Benton Central, Covington was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Fountain Central Mustangs as the Covington Trojans made off with a 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Covington was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-10, 25-7.
Covington was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain Central only served four.
Despite the loss, Fountain Central still got an impressive performance from Rylee Simko, who had 12 digs. Simko is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
Covington's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Fountain Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Covington will square off against Lafayette Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Covington is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for Fountain Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Frankfort at 7:00 p.m.
