Basketball Game Preview: Macon County Tigers vs. Portland Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Panthers on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Macon County comes in on six and Portland on three.

Macon County is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing White House: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Macon County blew White House out of the water with a 51-15 final score. With the Tigers ahead 28-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portland). They blew past Maplewood, posting a 73-45 victory. Portland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Macon County pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 21-10.

Macon County was able to grind out a solid win over Portland when the teams last played back in February, winning 45-35. Does Macon County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Portland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
