Basketball Recap: Athens Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Athens lost to Belpre back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Athens Bulldogs managed a 58-54 win over the Belpre Golden Eagles.

Athens' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Belpre, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Athens and Trimble will round out the year against one another at at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Belpre, they will challenge Marietta at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Marietta knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Belpre likes a good challenge.
