Softball Recap: Murphysboro Takes a Loss

Murphysboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Herrin Tigers. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Murphysboro saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Fox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Macie Cunningham, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Murphysboro's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Herrin, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Murphysboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-1 win against Nashville on the 9th. As for Herrin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 defeat against Marion on the 9th.
