Basketball Game Preview: Buckeye Panthers vs. Bunkie Panthers

The Buckeye Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Bunkie Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Buckeye will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Buckeye beat Plainview 45-41.

Meanwhile, Bunkie had to suffer through a 61-21 loss at the hands of Oakdale. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Warriors are ranked 29th).

Buckeye pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Bunkie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Buckeye was dealt a bruising 61-28 loss at the hands of Bunkie when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Buckeye avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
