Baseball Recap: West Scranton Invaders vs. North Pocono Trojans
West Scranton had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-17 to make it seven. They came up short against the North Pocono Trojans, falling 16-8. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-0 loss back in April.
Mason Lesh was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Williams, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
As for North Pocono, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
On North Pocono's side, Cael Hafner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hafner was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, North Pocono let Aidan Bassi and Jake Reese run wild. Bassi went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles, while Reese got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Bassi a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rory McAndrew, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
West Scranton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Pocono, they will head out on the road to face off against Abington Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
