Weeki Wachee and Springstead are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Hornets will head out to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weeki Wachee will be strutting in after a win while Springstead will be coming in after a loss.
Weeki Wachee's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Fivay with a sharp 20-0 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Derek Giordano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Giordano was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Weeki Wachee got a massive performance out of JD Sammons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Sammons has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ashton Childs, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Weeki Wachee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fivay only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Springstead had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Weeki Wachee by a score of 4-2.
Springstead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Bequette, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Weeki Wachee skirted past Springstead 4-2 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
