Volleyball Recap: Fruitport Takes a Loss

Fruitport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reeths-Puffer Rockets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Fruitport was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-14.

Tanner Cappema paced Fruitport's offense, picking up seven kills. Cappema got some help from Lane Raap and his seven assists. Raap was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Fruitport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fruitport will square off against rival Grand Haven at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Reeths-Puffer is set to face off against their familiar foe Holland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
