Basketball Recap: Lamesa Takes a Loss

Lamesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Farwell Steers and fell 63-12. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 830th, while the Steers are ranked 47th).

Farwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landri Richey, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and six blocks. Richey has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wade, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Lamesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Farwell, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Lamesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-21 defeat against San Angelo Central on the 14th. As for Farwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-25 win against Portales on the 14th.
