Lakota East took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hamilton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunderhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Big Blue 9-8. Winning may never get old, but the Thunderhawks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Kaleigh Crawford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Abrie Shulte was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Haley Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Lakota East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lakota East's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Hamilton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.
