Football Game Preview: Cedar Catholic Trojans vs. Ord Chanticleers + How To Watch

Cedar Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Hershey get on the board and left with a 48-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Trojans just coasted through the last quarter.

Hunter Bensen had a dynamite game, rushing for 68 yards and one TD, while also picking up 46 receiving yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Hunter Kuchta was in the mix too, providing Cedar Catholic with one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cedar Catholic proved: they limited Hershey to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Micah Cattau stood above the rest. He rushed for 17 yards and one score. Cedar Catholic didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Ord took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-30 win over Doniphan-Trumbull. The victory continues a trend for the Chanticleers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

Ord's defense made their presence known, laying out Parker Volk six times. Caden Lytle was especially locked on to Doniphan-Trumbull's QB and sacked him four times. Those four sacks set a new season-high mark for Lytle. Howard Winkelbauer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Cedar Catholic's record is now 10-0. As for Ord, their record now sits at 7-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Cedar Catholic has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 258.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ord struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 258.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Cedar Catholic came up short against Ord in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, falling 18-13. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
