Football Recap: Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Christian Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They had to suffer through a 52-21 loss at the hands of the Laurens Academy Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Crusaders are ranked fourth).

Caleb Hardy had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 219 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, while also picking up 53 receiving yards and two scores for Laurens Academy. With that strong performance, Hardy is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game. Ethan Collins was another key player, throwing for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes.

Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Laurens Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Christian Academy and Carolina W will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Laurens Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Richard Winn Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. The Crusaders will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
