Softball Game Preview: Barton Bears vs. Des Arc Eagles

Barton is 0-8 against Des Arc since March of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Barton has given up an average of 18.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Barton's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to McCrory, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Des Arc never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mills University Studies with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

Kaylee McDonald was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bailey RoBison was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Reagan Kittler, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Des Arc always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

Des Arc has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Barton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
