The New Prairie Cougars will take on the Hobart Brickies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Prairie is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
If New Prairie beats Hobart with eight runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cougars skirted past Mishawaka Marian 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 21st.

Reed Robinson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for New Prairie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
New Prairie hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mishawaka Marian struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Hobart won against Hammond Morton on Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Brickies blew past Hammond Central 14-2. The victory continues a trend for the Brickies in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Alex Martin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Koritko, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
New Prairie's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Hobart, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
New Prairie came out on top in a nail-biter against Hobart in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Brickies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
