Preview: Oakwood Panthers vs. Bynum Bulldogs
Two dominant players in Jacee Youngblood and Brooklyn Compean are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Oakwood Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bynum Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of three wins, Oakwood's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 48-41 to Milford. Oakwood has struggled against Milford recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Oakwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rai'Miaya Winston, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Youngblood was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bynum's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Avalon on the road and fell 42-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bynum has scored all season.
Oakwood's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Bynum, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-7.
Oakwood strolled past Bynum in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 39-25. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Compean, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
