Basketball Recap: Hellgate Falls Short Against Ranked Helena

On Thursday, Hellgate faced Helena in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Hellgate Knights took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Helena Bengals. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Hellgate lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zane Gillhouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Wayland, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hellgate and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Helena, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Hellgate will face off against Sentinel at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Helena, they will challenge Capital at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
