Baseball Recap: McKinley Red Dragons vs. Lakeview Bulldogs
McKinley had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it five. They lost 13-2 to the Lakeview Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Monday.
McKinley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brighton Gilmour, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Lakeview, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.
On Lakeview's side, Nathan Paolucci was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Paolucci was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lakeview let Jacob Shaker and Isaiah Lantz run wild. Shaker went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lantz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
McKinley will head out on the road to face off against Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeview, they will host Streetsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
