Basketball Game Preview: Slaton Tigers vs. Friona Chieftans

The Slaton Tigers will head out to challenge the Friona Chieftans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Slaton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.

Slaton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Littlefield by a score of 79-68 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Friona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Idalou 83-10. The game marked the Chieftans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Slaton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Friona, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Slaton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Friona when the teams last played back in February of 2018, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Slaton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
