Football Recap: Manti Takes a Loss

If Manti was riding high fresh off their 52-19 takedown of Juab last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Templars lost 51-27 to the Cedar Reds on Friday. The Templars' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Manti still got an impressive performance from Tala Taulapapa, who rushed for 110 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Carter Mason also helped out by tossing the rock for 273 yards.

Everett Kelling had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 205 yards and three TDs for Cedar. What's more, Kelling racked up 142.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Braxton Demille was another key player, gaining 232 total yards and a touchdown.

Manti's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Cedar, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Manti is set to face off against their familiar foe Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Taulapapa and Colton White. Meanwhile, Cedar will square off against rival North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
