Softball Game Preview: Dodson Panthers vs. Harrisonburg Bulldogs

The Dodson Panthers will square off against the Harrisonburg Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Dodson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Arcadia, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Dodson's pitcher stepped up to hand Arcadia a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. 15 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Courtney Mckiddy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last seven matches. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaylyn Nugent was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last seven contests. Zoey Goss was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Dodson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .944. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Harrisonburg was the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Georgetown. Harrisonburg hasn't had any issues with Georgetown recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The win was the third in a row for Dodson, bringing their record up to 11-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Harrisonburg, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
