Football Recap: Firebaugh Takes a Loss

Firebaugh extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They came up short against the Jefferson Democrats, falling 40-19. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.

As for Jefferson, they now have a winning record of 3-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

A big part of Jefferson's win came down to the chemistry between Joey Manning and his top target Roshaun Brown. Manning threw for 119 yards and a pair of TDs while Brown picked up 87 receiving yards and one touchdown. Brown didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Nelsean Farmer, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Firebaugh will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Compton Early College at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Jefferson, they will challenge Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Barristers' defense has only allowed 9.4 points per game this season, so the Democrats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
