Softball Recap: Emporia Takes a Loss

Emporia made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Manhattan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Alivia Barrett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Emporia's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Manhattan, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Emporia beat the Indians by a score of 5-4 later that day.
