Football Game Preview: San Luis Obispo Tigers vs. Templeton Eagles + How To Watch

The San Luis Obispo Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Templeton Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

San Luis Obispo is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Righetti just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 31-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

San Luis Obispo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zion Hegg, who rushed for 104 yards and two scores, and Andrew De La Motte, who picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD. De La Motte showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 65 yards.

Meanwhile, Templeton waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Pirates 56-14. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 33 points or more this season.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Colter Tannehill and Sands Dougherty. Tannehill had a great game and threw for 200 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Meanwhile, Dougherty was balling out in the loss, throwing for 347 yards and one TD while completing 74.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 80 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Templeton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Renner Wicks led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

San Luis Obispo's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Templeton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. San Luis Obispo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 252.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Templeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 163.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went San Luis Obispo's way against Templeton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as San Luis Obispo made off with a 21-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
