Softball Game Preview: Hinsdale Central Red Devils vs. Downers Grove North Trojans

Hinsdale Central is 0-10 against Downers Grove North since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Red Devils will take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Friday, Hinsdale Central didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbard West and fell 4-3. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oswego hit Downers Grove North with a five-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans lost 11-1 to the Panthers.

Downers Grove North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Barofsky, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Downers Grove North has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Hinsdale Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Hinsdale Central couldn't quite get it done against Downers Grove North in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
