Basketball Recap: Salem Skates Past Cave Spring with Ease

Salem won the last time they faced Cave Spring and things went their way on Friday too. The Salem Spartans took their game with ease, bagging a 68-29 victory over the Cave Spring Knights. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Bailey Rider was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 en route to 13 points along with five assists and five boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shaniya Robinson, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 14 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Salem was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Salem and bumps their season record up to 14-1. As for Cave Spring, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem and Christiansburg will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Cave Spring, they will face off against Pulaski County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pulaski County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Cave Spring surely won't give up without a fight.
