Baseball Recap: Hollister Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hollister, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Monterey Dores a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Haybalers: when they faced off against the Dores on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Trent Roach made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Rodriguez and Wes Aviles did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Aviles went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Aviles a new career-high. Evan Mendoza was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hollister always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monterey only posted an OBP of .133.

Hollister's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Monterey, they moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
