Basketball Recap: Coral Glades' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Coral Glades suffered their closest defeat since November 29, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Chaminade-Madonna Lions by a score of 86-84. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Coral Glades' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Swain, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Swain has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Reed, who went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points and seven assists.

Jasen Lopez was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 37 points and nine steals for Chaminade-Madonna. Lopez's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Mothersill, who posted 22 points and three steals.

The loss snapped Coral Glades' winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-6 record. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Coral Glades has already played their next matchup, a 53-50 win against Taravella on the 16th. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-53 victory against South Plantation on the 17th.
