Basketball Recap: Briggs Sets Scoring Season-High Against West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Briggs). They blew past the West Cowboys 57-29 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bruins as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Briggs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mali Woods-Laws led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. The game was Woods-Laws' third in a row with at least ten points. Te'Asia Ray was another key player, going 7 for 17 en route to 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Briggs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

The win got Briggs back to even at 9-9. As for West, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Briggs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West, they and South will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
