Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Madison Academy's Winning Streak

After flying high against Lindsay Lane Christian Academy last Monday, Madison Academy came back down to earth. The Madison Academy Mustangs took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakwood Academy Mustangs. Madison Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Oakwood Academy earlier this season, when they won 72-65.

Oakwood Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Lewis out in front who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Lewis a new career-high in assists. Dylon Pognon was another key player, putting up 16 points and five rebounds.

Madison Academy moved to 20-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Oakwood Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-8.

Madison Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oakwood Academy, they will welcome Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oakwood Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 matchups -- so hopefully Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering likes a good challenge.
