Softball Recap: Hanford Comes Up Short

Hanford and Rogers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Hanford had to settle for second. They fell 4-0 to the Rams. The shutout was out of character for the Falcons seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Heidi Sweet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

The defeat snapped Hanford's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 22-6 record. As for Rogers, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-4.

Looking ahead, Hanford will take on Richland at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Rogers, they will square off against Lake Stevens at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
