            Softball Recap: South Johnston Trojans vs. Scotland Fighting Scots        
        
		
        
        
            South Johnston dropped their record down to 23-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 13-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against  the Scotland Fighting Scots, falling  8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  loss the Trojans have suffered  since May 10, 2024.
As for Scotland, the  victory was  the 28th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-1. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
For Scotland's part,  Avery Stutts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a  run (which was  unearned)  on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Stutts has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  Dawson Blue was  incredible,  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of  Addison Ratley, who  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 South Johnston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scotland, they will square off against Rockingham County at 2:00  p.m.  on  the 31st. The Cougars will roll in looking for their  26th straight  victory, something the Fighting Scots surely won't give up without a fight.
