Basketball Recap: Hillman Tigers vs. Au Gres-Sims Wolverines
The Hillman Tigers waltzed into their match on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Au Gres-Sims 69-18 at home. Hillman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.
Hillman had a senior duo take command as Trenton Taratuta shot 4-for-10 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds and Blake Kennard dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kennard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aedan Tucker, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Hillman's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Au Gres-Sims, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Hillman will head out on the road to challenge the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlanta comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Au Gres-Sims, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
