Soccer Game Preview: Gibbs vs. Boca Ciega

Gibbs hasn't had much luck against Boca Ciega recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gladiators will be home for the holidays to greet the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Gibbs has given up an average of 8.2 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Gibbs' offense. They lost 8-0 to Admiral Farragut on Thursday.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous eight match, Boca Ciega brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Their defense stepped up to hand Lakewood a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for Boca Ciega in their matchups with Lakewood: they've now won four in a row.

Boca Ciega's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Gibbs, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Gibbs suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Boca Ciega in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Gladiators were down 3-0.
