Volleyball Game Preview: East Wake Academy Eagles vs. Neuse Charter Cougars + How To Watch

East Wake Academy and Neuse Charter are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2019, but not for long. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Wake Academy will be strutting in after a win while Neuse Charter will be coming in after a loss.

East Wake Academy had won five straight home games and Avery Schmidt did her part to make it six last Wednesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against NCSSM: Durham as they made off with a 3-0 victory thanks in part to Schmidt, who had 32 assists and 20 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

One reason for the win was East Wake Academy's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-23, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Neuse Charter came up short against Research Triangle on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Neuse Charter had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-21.

Neuse Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for East Wake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

East Wake Academy took their victory against Neuse Charter when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
