Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Reds vs. Wasatch Wasps

The Cedar Reds will head out on the road to face off against the Wasatch Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cedar was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Canyon View last Tuesday. The Reds blew past the Falcons 65-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Reds have posted against the Falcons since February 7, 2020.

Gabby Gomez had a dynamite game, going 9-for-22 on her way to 24 points and three steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tylee Nielson, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Cedar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Wasatch put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 62-39 margin over Layton Christian Academy. The Wasps have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Wasatch's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Cedar, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
