Softball Recap: Lake Highlands Starts Season with Victory at Home

Lake Highlands took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past the Seagoville Dragons 16-3.

Lake Highlands got a massive performance out of Ruthie Schmiel, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Leah Schmiel was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Seagoville's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Lake Highlands will take on Mansfield Timberview in a tournament on Thursday. As for Seagoville, they will look to defend their home field on February 18th against Adamson at 4:00 p.m.
