Softball Recap: Normal Community Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Normal Community's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Metamora on Thursday. The Ironmen were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Urbana Tigers. The Ironmen haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Hayley Michels was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Yokley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Normal Community hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Normal Community's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Urbana, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, Normal Community will take on Moline at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Urbana, they will challenge Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
