Basketball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Lexington Wildcats, falling 74-22. The Gators were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-4.

Lakewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ashley Boatright, who posted seven points. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Nesmith, who earned five points.

Lexington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keira Bobseine led the charge by going 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Bobseine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Saville, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-40 loss against Westwood on the 23rd. As for Lexington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-53 win against Fort Mill on the 23rd.
