Basketball Recap: Greenacres Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of three wins, Greenacres Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to the Morningside Academy Eagles on the road by a 59-45 margin. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 64-60 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Greenacres Christian lost, don't look at Brendan Daniels. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 21 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. Daniels has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahmello Makonnen, who posted ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morningside Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Rowell, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Bell, who had 14 points and eight boards.

Greenacres Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Morningside Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Greenacres Christian will square off against Jupiter Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jupiter Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Greenacres Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morningside Academy, they will face off against Dreyfoos School of the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Morningside Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
