Softball Recap: New Bremen Cardinals vs. Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers

New Bremen proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers.

Lydia Bushman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Bushman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Olivia Thornton was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Halle Kuenning was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

New Bremen's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Bremen will square off against Upper Scioto Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, they will face off against Allen East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
