Soccer Game Preview: Oxford Prep vs. Vance Charter

Oxford Prep hasn't had much luck against Vance Charter recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Griffins will host the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Oxford Prep has given up an average of 3.8 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Oxford Prep's offense. They came up short against Eno River Academy on Monday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Oxford Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Eno River Academy are ranked 236th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vance Charter). Their defense stepped up to hand Henderson Collegiate a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering Vance Charter have won 11 contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Henderson Collegiate from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Maci Satterwhite led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Oxford Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14-1. As for Vance Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
