Game recap: Rio Rancho High School Football Team bests Cibola

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Rio Rancho (N.M.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Ulises Astorga ran for a touchdown with with under a minute left in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over Cibola (Albuquerque, N.M.) 52-21.

After taking the lead on a Astorga touchdown run in the second quarter, the Rams led 21-14 at the half.

Rio Rancho expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. RR scored four times in the third, including once on a Easton Bruere touchdown run.

Bruere was one of the big reasons the Rams got the victory, as the sophomore threw four touchdowns.

Rio Rancho's most effective player was Bruere. The sophomore quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.



The Cougars' Martinez, Derek played well. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns.

RR also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-14.

Rio Rancho (8-1) goes up against Cleveland in a 5A District 1 game matchup next week, while Cibola (1-8) locks horns with Volcano Vista in a non-conference game.
