Basketball Recap: Rabun County Skates Past Oglethorpe County with Ease

Rabun County entered their tilt with Oglethorpe County on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They claimed a resounding 66-26 win over the Oglethorpe County Patriots. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Rabun County to victory were Hayes Free and Huey Blalock. Free went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Blalock went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and eight assists. The dominant performance gave Free a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Michael Bone, who posted 12 points and five steals.

Rabun County pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Oglethorpe County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Rabun County is taking a road trip to square off against Elbert County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elbert County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Rabun County likes a good challenge. Oglethorpe County has already played their next game (against Providence Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
