Softball Recap: Carson Takes a Loss

Carson extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-11. They came up short against the A.L. Brown Wonders, falling 16-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for A.L. Brown, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For A.L. Brown's part, Mary Katherine Black was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Black has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Baker, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Myla McNeely, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Carson will face off against Jay M. Robinson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for A.L. Brown, they will challenge Olympic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
