Basketball Recap: Caldwell Takes a Loss

Caldwell lost against Seton Hall Prep back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Caldwell Chiefs lost 70-47 to the Seton Hall Prep Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chiefs have suffered since January 20, 2024.

Anthony Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seton Hall Prep, putting up 12 points and six assists. Gonzalez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Guzzardo, who posted nine points.

Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Seton Hall Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Caldwell and Seton Hall Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Caldwell (ranked 39th) will meet Bloomfield (ranked 138th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Seton Hall Prep will challenge Newark Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 58 places (14 vs. 72).
