Baseball Recap: Pocahontas County Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tygarts Valley, Pocahontas County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Bath County Chargers by a score of 5-2. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Warren Burns was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Burns was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gary Warner was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Luke Gainer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Pocahontas County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-11-1. As for Bath County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pocahontas County will take on Pendleton County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bath County, they will host Parry McCluer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
