Lafayette Pitts is saying no to his orginal commitment of going to Pitt and is following former Pitt offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, Jr., and former Pitt coach Jeff Hafley to Rutgers.

Pitts was planning on staying home and going just down the road to Pitt before the Panthers fired head coach Dave Wannstedt after the season and then had to fire Wannstedt's replacement Mike Haywood less than a month after hiring him.
Pitts' decision to go to Rutgers caught Woodland Hills head coach George Novak a little bit by surprise according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which reported that Novak thought Pitts was still going to make a recruiting trip to Pitt this weekend. But Novak also believed Pitts' trust in Cignetti and Hafley had a lot to do with his decision to go to Rutgers.
"I thought he was going to visit Pitt and then made his decision," Novak told the Post-Gazette. "Pitt was the place for him when coach Wannstedt was there. He trusted (Cignetti and Hafley). That trust was built over the period of a year. I think he feels some uncertainty at Pitt right now and what direction they're going in. I don't think he has as much trust with anyone there right now as he does with coach Cignetti and coach Hafley."
