Softball Game Preview: Union Parish Farmers vs. Downsville Demons

The Union Parish Farmers will venture away from home to square off against the Downsville Demons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Union Parish got the win against Jonesboro-Hodge by a conclusive 12-4. Considering the Farmers have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Downsville made easy work of Dodson on Monday and carried off a 14-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Union Parish and bumps their season record up to 4-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Downsville, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.

Union Parish suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Downsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Farmers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
